My barrier is completely cooked, burns like crazy whenever I put tretinoin on it. I stopped for a day which helped but it isn't enough time to let it fully heal. Is there anything I can do to ensure I can still apply enough tretinoin to make a difference without making it burn.

I'm on 0.05% and would prefer to not need to stop for a while.

I'm planning on reducing usage and avoiding the areas that burn as much as possible but it doesn't seem to do much and I don't want to stop. I might have to, just curious if anyone fixed this.

stop the tret for a week and just focus on barrier repair with ceramides and aquaphor at night when you restart buffer it with moisturizer and go every other night your skin will thank you
