Exposure To Fluoride Actually Damages Teeth, Even At Low Concentrations
Most adults are familiar with the much-publicized (and advertised) claims of public health authorities about the purported benefits of fluoride exposure for dental health. The official story is that by adding fluoride to tap water, people's teeth are exposed to "low" concentration of fluoride, which has a strengthening effect on the enamel and makes it resistant to future damage by acid in the oral cavity. However, even the corrupt public health authorities readily admit that fluoride exposure has a very narrow therapeutic range and in higher concentrations fluoride is actually known to damage the enamel (not to mention the thyroid, reproductive organs, brain, heart, etc) and cause a condition known as dental fluorosis (DF).
Why did I put "low" in quotation marks above. Well, the study below confirms that short-term exposure to high concentrations of fluoride quickly damages the enamel and this effect is caused by a combination of extracellular calcium depletion as well as inhibition of mitochondrial function. Both of these are known effect of fluoride. However, another striking finding of the study was that chronic exposure to fluoride concentrations several times lower than the currently approved standards for fluoride content in tap water also caused similar enamel damage. Let's see if this study gets replicated by another group but so far it looks like there is no "low" or "safe" level of fluoride exposure and the story we have been fed by public health authorities on dental benefit of fluoride may be yet another medical scam.
How too much fluoride causes defects in tooth enamel: Changes within enamel cells point to mechanism by which excessive fluoride leads to fluorosis
Fluoride exposure alters Ca2+ signaling and mitochondrial function in enamel cells
"...Enamel crystals develop in specialized extracellular compartments modulated by the activities of epithelial cells, known as ameloblasts, during the secretory and maturation stages of enamel development (6–8). Ameloblasts coordinate the transport of ions required for the growth of crystal (7, 8). The effects of fluoride incorporation during enamel development are reversed when excessive fluoride intake occurs, posing a health problem known as dental fluorosis (DF) (3, 9, 10). Rather than strengthening the bonds between enamel crystals, excessive fluoride disrupts mineralization, resulting in pitted enamel with white opaque surfaces and hypomineralization (3, 9, 11, 12). DF is exclusively a developmental defect and has a major effect worldwide: ~30% of the U.S. population and ~60 million people in India are affected by DF with varying degrees of severity (2, 13). Therefore, the current recommendation for daily fluoride intake is less than 1.0 ppm (parts per million), with water fluoridation not exceeding 0.7 ppm (0.7 mg/L, ~37 uM/L) (14)."
"...We showed that fluoride treatment resulted in lower intracellular Ca2+ pools in primary secretory and maturation stage EO cells of rat incisors and in LS8 cells. Furthermore, SOCE was abnormally low in all fluoride-treated enamel cells (Fig. 1, A and B)...We found that prolonged treatment but not transient treatment of LS8 cells with fluoride (1 mM/L or 10 uM/L) slowed the release of IP3-sensitive ER Ca2+ pools."
"...Maximal respiration elicited by FCCP, which forces H+ across the inner mitochondrial membrane instead of through the ATP synthase, was also substantially lower in fluoride-treated cells, indicating that fluoride modified cellular bioenergetics."
"...In summary, this study investigated how fluoride affected the intracellular milieu of enamel cells. The effects of fluoride were wide ranging and complex. Fluoride affected Ca2+ homeostasis but not in all cells. Because transient application of fluoride disrupted m but did not immediately affect IP3R-mediated ER Ca2+ release, we suggest that the dysregulation of Ca2+ homeostasis by fluoride in enamel cells is initiated in the mitochondria (Fig. 6). The subsequent disruption of the transmembrane potential for hydrogen ions, which is required for ATP synthesis, results in decreased ATP levels. Such a decrease in ATP limits SERCA function, and as a result, there is a decline in ER Ca2+ content. These detrimental defects are compounded by a down-regulation of MRPs. SOCE is attenuated because of low ATP levels, up-regulation of Saraf, or mitochondrial dysfunction. Together, our data provide a potential mechanism for DF."
Drinking Fluoridated Water During Pregnancy May Lower IQ (in Sons)
Another study (the most comprehensive to date) that finds a strong link between pre-natal exposure to fluoride in drinking water and lower intelligence in the offspring. As the article aptly notes, the benefits of fluoride were never proven before it was introduced in drinking water throughout the US, and the topic had apparently been mired in controversy (read: evidence-free, authoritarian fraud) since the very beginning. The fact that this study was published in JAMA, a bastion of mainstream medical practices, suggests that the negative effects of fluoride are likely much stronger than what is publicly announced. The study itself contains a hint - i.e. the negative effects of fluoride exposure on intelligence match almost perfectly those of lead - a well-known, potent neurotoxin whose levels (at least on paper) are tightly controlled in water and food supplies. The multiple threads I posted on the worldwide decline in IQ scores, and overall health of young people display graphs that coincide almost perfectly with the introduction of fluoridated water in Western countries.Drinking fluoridated water during pregnancy may lower IQ in sons, controversial study says
"...First piloted as an experiment to reduce dental cavities in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1945, fluoridated drinking water has since been hailed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta as “one of public health’s greatest success stories.” Today, about two-thirds of people in the United States receive fluoridated tap water, as do many people in Australia, Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Now, a controversial new study links fluoridation to lower IQ in young children, especially boys whose mothers drank fluoridated water while pregnant...Fluoride is well-known for protecting teeth against cavities by strengthening tooth enamel. It’s found naturally in low concentrations in both freshwater and seawater, as well as in plant material, especially tea leaves. Throughout the 1940s and ’50s, public health researchers and government officials in cities around the world experimentally added fluoride to public drinking water; they found it reduced the prevalence of cavities by about 60%. Today, fluoridated water flows through the taps of about 5% of the world’s population, including 66% of Americans and 38% of Canadians."
"...Yet skepticism has dogged the practice for as long as it has existed. Some have blamed fluoridated water for a wide range of illnesses including cancer, but most criticism has been dismissed as pseudoscience. Over the years, though, a small number of scientists have published meta-analyses casting doubt on the efficacy of water fluoridation in preventing cavities. More recently, scientists have published small-scale studies that appear to link prenatal fluoride exposure to lower IQ, although dental research groups were quick to challenge them. A study out today in JAMA Pediatrics offers perhaps the highest profile critique to date. Psychologists and public health researchers looked at data from Canada’s federally funded Maternal-Infant Research on Environmental Chemicals program, a long-term study of pregnant women and their children in six Canadian cities that started to collect data in 2008 on everything from diet to education levels to traces of lead and arsenic in the urine. About 40% of the nearly 600 women lived in cities with fluoridated drinking water; they had an average urinary fluoride level of 0.69 milligrams per liter, compared with 0.4 milligrams for women living in cities without fluoridated water. Three to 4 years after the women gave birth, researchers gave their children an age-appropriate IQ test. After controlling for variables such as parental education level, birth weight, prenatal alcohol consumption, and household income, as well as exposure to environmental toxicants such as lead, mercury, and arsenic, they found that if a mother’s urinary fluoride levels increased by 1 milligram per liter, her son’s (but not her daughter’s) IQ score dropped by about 4.5 points. That effect is on par with the other recent studies looking at childhood IQ and low-level lead exposure."
Fluoride At Levels In Tap Water Is As Toxic As Lead And Mercury For The Brain
Finally some brave souls found the courage to publish a piece of truth. Fluoride is one of the "cornerstones" of public health policy and studies going against the established dogma are very rarely published. Whatever evidence about fluoride's toxicity comes to light is usually explained away that it only happens at very high concentrations that cannot be achieved by drinking tap water.Well, not so, according to the study below. Exposure to fluoride in drinking water led to an average of 7 point drop in IQ scores of the people drinking that water and lead the authors to call fluoride a brain toxin comparable to lead and mercury.

"...For years health experts have been unable to agree on whether fluoride in the drinking water may be toxic to the developing human brain. Extremely high levels of fluoride are known to cause neurotoxicity in adults, and negative impacts on memory and learning have been reported in rodent studies, but little is known about the substance’s impact on children’s neurodevelopment. In a meta-analysis, researchers from Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) and China Medical University in Shenyang for the first time combined 27 studies and found strong indications that fluoride may adversely affect cognitive development in children. Based on the findings, the authors say that this risk should not be ignored, and that more research on fluoride’s impact on the developing brain is warranted."
"...Choi and senior author Philippe Grandjean, adjunct professor of environmental health at HSPH, and their colleagues collated the epidemiological studies of children exposed to fluoride from drinking water. The China National Knowledge Infrastructure database also was included to locate studies published in Chinese journals. They then analyzed possible associations with IQ measures in more than 8,000 children of school age; all but one study suggested that high fluoride content in water may negatively affect cognitive development. The average loss in IQ was reported as a standardized weighted mean difference of 0.45, which would be approximately equivalent to seven IQ points for commonly used IQ scores with a standard deviation of 15.* Some studies suggested that even slightly increased fluoride exposure could be toxic to the brain. Thus, children in high-fluoride areas had significantly lower IQ scores than those who lived in low-fluoride areas. The children studied were up to 14 years of age, but the investigators speculate that any toxic effect on brain development may have happened earlier, and that the brain may not be fully capable of compensating for the toxicity. “Fluoride seems to fit in with lead, mercury, and other poisons that cause chemical brain drain,” Grandjean says. “The effect of each toxicant may seem small, but the combined damage on a population scale can be serious, especially because the brain power of the next generation is crucial to all of us.”
Fluoride Now Officially Banned In India As A Known Toxin
It is funny how the knowledge about toxicity of a given chemical can be so widespread in certain areas of the world and completely censored in others. Not only that, but India seems to have banned fluoride for causing the same issues that Western medicine claims it prevents! Let's see if other countries follow suit as a result of this decision affecting the health of more than 1 billion people.Btw, the same directive also banned the supplement PQQ, which some people on the forum have reported taking. Peat has spoken against its use before but did not provide specific reasons for not using it.
Additives make your food highly unsafe
"...The scientific panel of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has recommended that fluoride, potato protein, willow bark extract, lemon balm and pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) must not be used in any food product as they are unsafe for human consumption."
"...Fluoride is found in foods that contain water. Untreated water has a high fluoride content which is residue from agriculture and industrial waste. The food processing industries that use this water have been told to test the level of fluoride in the water before use. Fluoride is found in liquids more than solids. It is most commonly found in a) Fruit juices; the highest content is found in apple and grape juice b) Sauces like tomato sauce c) Salads that are eaten raw and not properly washed d) Soda e) Toothpaste, mouthwash and dietary supplements. Excess fluoride in the body causes thyroid, arthritis, dementia, bone fractures and dental fluorosis."
"...Pyrroloquinoline quinine (PQQ) is a compound. It is found naturally in soil and also foods such as kiwi fruit and in human breast milk. It is also added to skimmed milk and dietary supplements.PQQ's role as a vitamin has been controversial since its introduction in 2005. PQQ can be toxic and can damage the kidney and liver. There is a lot of debate about dietary supplements that have PQQ. FSSAI states that it must not be used as its safety parameters have not been identified."
http://fluoridealert.org/news/fssai-directs-fbos-to-discontinue-fluoride-use-due-to-safety-concerns/
"...The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) recently directed the food business operators (FBOs) to discontinue running businesses involving foods containing two ingredients, namely fluoride and potato protein isolate, with immediate effect and withdraw the same from the market keeping in view the safety concerns. Further, it also ordered the discontinuation, with immediate effect, of products containing ingredients like willow bark extract, pyrrol quinoline quinone and lemon bam, as they have been identified to exhibit the properties of drugs. However, the sale of products already manufactured or imported is permitted until June 30, 2018."
Fluoride In Tap Water Could Be A Causative Factor In Diabetes
While the public health authorities continue their mantra on the "benefits" of fluoride for teeth and bone health, there are quite a few research groups that have been producing solid evidence to the contrary. As many of you know, fluoride is a proven thyroid inhibitor. As such, it is expected to cause a wide variety of matebolic ailments the most prominent of which is diabetes II. And this new study found exactly that - fluoride at levels found in common tap water may be one of the causative factors behind the epidemic of diabetes II.https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2016/08/160817132107.htm
"...A recent study published in the Journal of Water and Health examined links between water fluoridation and diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is a growing epidemic in the United States. Incidence rates have nearly quadrupled in the past 32 years and show no signs of stopping. According to the study, fluoridation with sodium fluoride could be a contributing factor to diabetes rates in the United States, as the chemical is a known preservative of blood glucose."
"...Fluegge reported that a one milligram increase in average county fluoride levels predicted a 0.17% increase in age-adjusted diabetes prevalence. Digging deeper revealed differences between the types of fluoride additives used by each region. The additives linked to diabetes in the analyses included sodium fluoride and sodium fluorosilicate. Fluorosilicic acid seemed to have an opposing effect and was associated with decreases in diabetes incidence and prevalence. Counties that relied on naturally occurring fluoride in their water and did not supplement with fluoride additives also had lower diabetes rates. The positive association between fluoridation and diabetes was discovered when Fluegge adjusted fluoride exposure levels to account for estimated per capita tap water consumption. "The models present an interesting conclusion that the association of water fluoridation to diabetes outcomes depends on the adjusted per capita consumption of tap water," explained Fluegge. "Only using the concentration [of added fluoride] does not produce a similarly robust, consistent association." For this reason, Fluegge adjusted his calculations to incorporate tap water consumption, instead of sticking to calculations that rely on "parts per million" measurements of fluoride in the water."
Taurine Reverses Thyroid Inhibition Due To Fluoride
As we all know, fluoride exposure is ubiquitous these days. Even if you avoid drinking tap water, eating any kind of commercial food will give you plenty of fluoride as tap water is used everywhere for cost reasons. Fluoride has well-known negative effect on the thyroid but this topic is taboo to bring up in public policy meetings. You may get booed out of the room.Well, this study does not beat around the bush and states directly that fluoride administration at levels even lower than what humans are regularly exposed to, caused both renal and thyroid damage. Adding taurine in a human equivalent dose of about 15 mg/kg or 30 mg/kg for a period of 45 days reversed that damage, with especially notable effects of the lower dose taurine (15 mg/kg) on restoring levels of T3. The even better news is that the reversal of the damage occurred even in the presence of continued consumption of fluoride.
Taurine Ameliorates Renal Oxidative Damage and Thyroid Dysfunction in Rats Chronically Exposed to Fluoride. - PubMed - NCBI
"...Administration of taurine significantly reversed the fluoride-mediated decrease in absolute weight and organo-somatic index of the kidney in the exposed rats. Taurine significantly prevented fluoride-induced elevation in plasma urea and creatinine levels in the exposed rats. Moreover, taurine restored fluoride-mediated decrease in the circulatory concentrations of triiodothyronine, thyroxine, and the ratio of triiodothyronine to thyroxine. Taurine ameliorated fluoride-mediated decrease in renal antioxidant status by significantly enhancing the antioxidant enzyme activities as well as glutathione level in the exposed rats. Additionally, taurine inhibited fluoride-induced renal oxidative damage by markedly decreasing the hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde levels as well as improved the kidney architecture in the treated rats. Collectively, taurine protected against fluoride-induced renal toxicity via enhancement of thyroid gland function, renal antioxidant status, and histology in rats."
Fluoride In Tap Water Is One Likely Cause Of Hypothyroidism
The study is being criticized by the mainstream press, but the authors stand behind their findings and claim the result have been replicated many times (in animals studies).http://www.newsweek.com/water-fluoridat ... ?piano_d=1

"...A large study that looked at data from nearly every general medical practice in England suggests that water fluoridation may increase the risk of developing hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid. This condition, in which the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough hormones, is associated with symptoms such as fatigue, obesity and depression. The study found that locations with fluoridated water supplies were more than 30 percent more likely to have high levels of hypothyroidism, compared to areas with low levels of the chemical in the water. Overall, there were 9 percent more cases of underactive thyroid in fluoridated places."
