Floyd Patterson born in January of 1935 won an Olympic gold medal in boxing at age 17 in 1952 and turned pro later that year. At age 21 in 1956, he became the HW champion when he defeated Archie Moore. Even though Moore was 41 years old, he was favored to win the fight



In 1959, he lost the title to Ingemar Johansson who was the European HW champion. In 1960, at age 25, he regained the HW championship when he KO'd Johansson with a left hook to the chin. Johansson was unconscious for 10 minutes.



Floyd Patterson died in 2006 at age 71 of prostate cancer and dementia.
