Mine was pretty bad, got on accutane early, barely any scars left.
Or some people just have skin that doesn't heal that well?

unlikely, although mens skin is 30% thicker on average it wouldn't be a catalyst in making acne scars less worse.

scarring occurs at the dermis, thickness would have nothing to do with it

I don’t know how thinner skin factors in.

Imo thinner skin would reduce proneness to scarring because there is physically less room for the scars, but this is a guess.
