For all the hairmaxxer mfs out there how does one achieve this type of buzz cut?

Saw a dude the other day, i didn't take a look at his face but i exceptionally liked his haircut, he had this kind of buzzcut it was spiky and short. This image isnt 100% how his hair looked like but the point is his hair was long enough to be spiky and short enough to stay in that position. what guard should i use to achieve smth similar to the reference image ( a bit shorter), will curly-wavyish hair be a problem?

his seems a grown out buzz, u can get a fade if you want

I mean I don't really think that's a buzz cut, it looks more like a crew cut to me and those are typically 1/2 to 2 inches long. Your hair looking spiky like this highly depends on your hair texture, but certain products can of course help, anything that enhances hold really.
