It’s brought me happiness & a sense of meaning personally. I’ve opted out of relationships and marriage and use a lot of time that I would otherwise spend on a gf/wife for my aging parents. Your parents appreciate it a lot and it is meaningful.
Take your dad out for coffee. Take your mom and dad both out to a nice restaurant. buy them a vacation package, take them traveling with you, pick up their meds, go to doctors appointments with them, etc.
Yes your parents ultimately raised an autist but when you become an adult, you realize all the sacrifices they’ve made for you and a lot of this is the least you can do, instead of rotting alone wallowing in your sadness.
