For anybody saying lense distortion isn't significant, take a look at this jfl

I found a few pictures from a few years back when I was much heavier (215-220) and noticed some pictures were taken on different phones, one from a onenote N200, and another from a terrible LGK51. (keep in mind both are under 120$)

Take. A. Look. At. This.

Now, because I'm overweight in both pictures, and cameras in general add 20lbs or more I look bloated to begin with.

But with the LGK51 it looks like I got my faced pancaked like in one of this tom and jerry cartoons! Every facial feature is off severely, I'd even say i almost look like a completely different person 😅

Always keep in mind you don't know how much your smartphone camera is looksminning you, especially if you have a cheap phone; instead trust the mirror more then the phone unless it's a modern day iPhone or S series galaxy, those phones can get very close to a mirror!

Different angles but i get your point. Back camera 2x zoom is best. Mirrors differ a lot aswell, the mirror in my house makes me look utterly subhuman while the high quality/expensive one in the cosmetics section of the supermarket with good lighting makes me look way better.

Perhaps the lighting in your restroom simply isn't flattering! I use a small mirror, about width of my shoulders and the height from the top of my head to my lower chest and carry it around in every type of lighting environment.

Outside, filtered window natural lighting, indoor lighting of all types I look very good! From all angles and everything. Some places, like in the restroom under strong direct overhead lighting with that same handheld mirror is probably the worst I look, but even still in my opinion it outdoes any selfie I've ever taken. I look significantly better in the mirror then in any selfie, likely because I've never owned a phone over 200$ lol

I only look 'good' in selfie pictures when it's daylight. Truly over for me at this current time.

You'd think most people know about lens distortion but I constantly see tiktokcels calculating FWHR and other ratios on selfie pictures JFL.

Do you have a good quality phone? It could be the poor camera lighting adaptability, or poor resolution / bad lens distortion. I'd imagine that if you look good in a mirror, and took a selfie under the same conditions you'd be satisfied.

Also, if you look good in any selfie, day or night you definitely got something going on, keep at it!

I have an iPhone 12. If I take a selfie right now I look subhuman, but I can guarantee tomorrow in the morning I'll look normie. Partially cuz my blue eyes look better in lighting that isn't shit. But idk my lips also look fuller in good lighting, it's weird.

And yeah mirror pictures always make my face width and eye spacing look normal. Water tho.

Yeah, even before I started looksmaxxing my best pictures were mirror pictures, though I didn't understand why because at the time I didn't understand the the distance from the mirror+the reflection reduce distortion significantly.

Blue eyes huh? Very lucky! Maybe your looks look a little worse at night? I noticed a similar phenomenon, at night my skin becomes less smooth, more sickly looking and my face is a bit more bloated. Late morning through early evening are the prime time.

It's significant for average people. Very good looking people look good with it (usually) regardless.

if u have bad angularity in your face, u will look bad on pictures and better in motion if u arent subhuman.

I think I have ok-ish angularity, and in some cases I think good angularity from the front, in pictures can make your lower third seem more bulbous and your entire face more round and gracile if not for a more defining structure, like hollow cheeks or visible masseters. Even Brad Pitt can look bloated in bad lighting because of his large jaw. This is because phone camera cannot properly convey depth in such an intricate way, so whatever is closest to it simply looks larger, and not "closer" so to speak. Modern high end phones do not suffer much from this issue, but cheaper phones lack decent depth sensors and selfie quality falters significantly because of this.

See, here's the my side profile:
M20 how can i improve v0 trp1fkja4occ1

From the front on the lower quality phones I've owned before none of the angularity that I see from the front in any mirror is manifested in digital form properly, it simply looks like a load of circular bloat, though to a lesser extent nowadays. Speaking of course in terms of harsh frontal lighting that is overexposed. In soft natural lighting the structure of my face looks more natural.

Bloat yeah it's possible. My lips mostly just look thinner and my chin to philtrum looks worse. It resolves itself in a mirror picture though.

No lense distortion for your bones

No lense distortion for your bones
Of course, but the distortion can also attack your facial harmony, throwing your ratios off and thus looksminning you, nobody is immune to that I think. Even with super bones your nose can look bigger, face rounder, eyes closer or farther apart, eyes uneven or sunken/bulging. It is always a factor.
