False. Religion and Science do not conflict, enforcing both moral and materialistic imperatives. Science is empirical while religion is axiomatic. Religion is necessary for us as human beings to advance, with it acting as a moral guide. Rome was nothing but crude savages and a slew of refugee outlaws before Numa Pompillius, the second king, introduced a strong theological aspect which shaped Rome's moral system and allowed it to create traditions on which its civilization was built on.
