For older generations, how was dating back in your time ?

The only time period I've experienced was the late-90 and the 2000's. I fell like all what a man needed to do back then in order to get a girl was to be normal in every way. Now I feel that if you don't have any clout, a clear presence on social medias, a 100k/year job and an above average look you don't make the cut with easily 80 % of them.
