For those of you with a bad crossbite

Is there any health risks if left untreated, orthodontist recommended surgery but due to acting like an autist around my parents looking at myself in the camera, they think I want it for cosmetic purposes and don't believe me when I told them what the orthodontist said. Now they won't sign off unless it's muh absolutely necessary. All these guys get oral surgeries for reasons besides looks, so I have to know what to say to them. Insurance would approve, just not them. Have a consult soon, but it'll probably be SARPE I need to get. (And no, I didn't say any bp or looks related garbage to ortho, she brought it up unprompted due to me being in braces rn)
