Formaldehyde, is it worth it?

So I’ve been looking into formaldehyde as a way to lighten the eyes, I’m seeing some very mixed opinions about it. The main thing I’m worried about is the loss of eyesight. So, to those who have done it or have information on it, do you think it was worth it and if so why?
