Was an acnecel not so long ago, made me miserable beyond belief, tried every single cope in the book (not even exaggerating) for minimal to no results, honestly I blame myself in large part due to me being gullible enough to fall for the whole "primal", "naturalist" , "nature" or whatever you want to call it shtick on the internet, due to this phase that I had found myself subscribing to, I had avoided isotretinoin for a long time, needlessly prolonging my suffering. The absurd fear mongering also didn't help. In the end I finally took my fucking meds and never looked back since. Honestly feels silly to have been so close to the solution to my woes all this time ,but not knowing. If you're an active or former acnecel please share your story about how acne affected your life, I am genuinely curious and I also hope to start a discussion here. <3

Never had serious acne, but heard Cerave's anti acne cleanser and accutane are legit.

Acne scars seem so brutal because from what I know you can't even really fix them unlike some other features (though I've done no reasearch).
If someone didn't take accutane and got bad scars, they will be regretting that shit for the rest of their lives every time they look in the mirror.

I have slight scarring but it's almost invisible.
Maybe I will do lazer too.
Gonna research more methods along with Aqualyx in the future when I've got more money and have 12% bodyfat.

Definitely focus on your body fat at first, not much looksmaxing being done if above 20%, good luck brah <3.

Had bad skin but accutane wasn't necessary. I still took it for 1.5 years.
My skin is pretty clear, i get pimples time to time if only if i go out without a sunscreen

I'll share my story.

I'm 28. Started having normal teenage acne around 12-13 years of age and it never ended lol. I would say I had it the worst around 17-20. My acne was never terribly bad but I would have a painful cyst on my face here and there, maybe 2-3 a year. As far as scarring goes, I only have three relatively small PIE scars on my cheek that haven't gone away in 10 years; I'm planning on getting them lasered as soon as I have cash to spare.

I used topical tretinoin between the age of 20 and 25 and I was still getting acne with it but it would go away and heal much quicker than if I hadn't used it. I haven't used it for almost three years but I will get back on it as soon as I get some money.

I figured out that the acne in my case it's caused by dietary choices. I completely quit corn syrup/plain sugar, processed foods, bread and pasta and it mostly did the trick. However, to 99% acne proof myself, I have to go outside in direct sunlight with no sunscreen for 20 minutes every day, preferably when the UV index is at its highest. The UV eviscerates the bacteria that causes my acne and my skin barrier is at peak efficiency from doing this. I don't care that it supposedly ages me and all that crap. I really don't think that a total of 20 minutes of direct sunlight without SPF every day has any negative effects. I'm not sure how I would get back on tretinoin because I would have to keep my face out of the sun. Right now I only use Cerave cleanser + moisturizer twice a day.

Personally, accutane saved me. Good thing that you took it for a while, even if you have very mild acne it's still good to take it for the permanent gains. Isotretinoin should be the norm if you've ever had a pimple in your life to be honest. @Stardew

Used to believe the sun cope same as you, honestly just start isotretinoin and forget. Thanks for sharing also.

Winter was the peak, especially around my cheeks, near my lips, and on my forehead. I also had a lot on my neck, back and a little in other areas.

I’ve been taking isotret for about three months now and what has changed are pretty obvious

Acne, especially at its worst peek, affected me a lot mentally, because the creams I was prescribed dried out my skin but didn’t actually get rid of the breakouts. So I had both dry skin and acne at the same time. I was also constantly getting new breakouts.

So it's better to choose one
As I said, if acne is very bad, tret wouldn't probably help

During winter of 2024 my acne got so bad as to the point my forehead, cheeks and even nose had GIANT fucking pimples. Frankly looking back today, I don't how I didn't rope ,but I just pulled through I suppose, truth be told acne kind of ,well not per say ruined, but very negatively affected my teens, now that I am 19 and free it definitely feels relieving ,but I still hold this bitterness within for the moments which I had due likely missed due to my acne.

Started at 10mg 3 months ago, upped to 20mg for a couple of months, upped to 60mg 5 days ago, will stay like this for a year. Maybe it was the acid doing you over? Or maybe it just depends on the person? Don't know really, seems like i'm a good responder.

Probably wouldn't have made much of a difference if you picked at them or not, I sure as hell didn't and I doubt if that helped much if at all. Be glad that your oneitis doesn't see you now because she'd probably get so wet she'd drown, BOOM!
