i am a southeast asian teenager with an insanely flat maxilla and i hate it. i also have a pretty recessed chin, likely because of my overbite. speaking of my overbite, i have braces and class ii elastics and just got bite blocks off. all of those things cause downward growth and recession, and i still have two years left of braces. i’m not allowed to get any orthodontic appliances (although i want a palate expander very badly.) genuinely what do i do? is it over?

double jaw surgery is the only option btw a palate expander will not help your overbite at all lol it would make it worse if anything

double jaw surgery is the only option btw a palate expander will not help your overbite at all lol it would make it worse if anything

np if your severely recessed you can get it at least partially covered by insurance if you larp sleep apena + airway issues, best way to do this is take a bunch of benzos before the sleep study to fuck up your sleep score artificially

Also, braces won’t make you “recessed”. There’s large amounts of fear mongering that removing 4 premolars for braces will suddenly concave your face in.

You should actually WANT 4 premolars removed if you suffer from bimaxillary potrusion (common in Asians) since it’s one of the only things that can really fix it other than surgery.

You’d only turn out “recessed” after braces if your ortho is a retard and removes premolars if you have a narrow palate instead of expanding, doing that would make your airways shit and you’d have to undergo surgery for it
