I noticed this too, that in all WW2 pics even in pics of malnourished concentration camp prisoners, people look much better than the average guy today, again I dont know how much cherrypick is involved because it would kind of collide with the current idea of male beauty standards getting worse and men getting more and more good looking due to forced selection (instead of the opposite like these pics would suggest)
