Friend told me I'll pay you back but didn't mention it after

For starters This guy i consider him as one of my best friends
He once said that he doesn't like being in debt of anybody and lend others money

So we where at a coffeshop i decided to get a vanilla shake he told me to get him one and he will pay me back later but after leaving he just said thanks and didn't mention it again

And i think he had money considering he bought a pocket of cigarettes before we got there

Before ordering i asked him don't you have money he said no

If he just asked for me to pay that I'd be cool
But if he doesn't pay it back I might cut contacts with him gnly
