I used the early versions of the internet on the shitty gigantic monitors and the internet was literal so shit, took 4 minutes to been access a website, ask me anything.

But what I find interesting is how the culture has changed in the last 10 years

12 years ago, the internet used to be a fucking GAUNTLET. Legit, people used to beef in comment sections for millennia and it was so easy to argue

Now on shit like TikTok you can flame a niggas existence and they just never reply again

Usually people defended their opinions on the internet and it was stupidly easy to get in a feud

Maybe I’ve just relaxed and I’m not as much of an aggressive teen but people don’t fucking enter the gauntlet like they used to

Because back then, the internet was still a very niche thing, often populated only by 30 year old autistic, basement dwelling virgin introverts with no social lives

(who satisfied their human need for social interaction by arguing about random shit with random people online)

because accessing the internet required a deliberate decision to sit down at a table in front of a PC, which, for the average normie with a life going on, doesn't exactly sound like a fun / normal activity to engage in for more than an hour or two a day

You didn't have today's luxury of accessing it from a phone you can take with you anywhere.

Normies and 90% of today's internet demographic didn't exist there yet
