I would Still bet you can control symptoms to a huge extent. And unless very rare cases most of them would no longer chose to transition with therapy and certain medications ( memantine for ocd aspect of the dysphoria).

Sex change is brutal because a lot of masculinisation of the brain happens in the first five years and in puberty. It's very hard to replicate as an adult and long term life satisfaction prolly doesn't change much
