maybe is was exaggerating, with the word brutal. But for sure a negative experience. Brutal it becomes, when gets rejected irl like 15 times in a row. Which may happen.

I think that depends a bit, on the situation, location, and how one behaved.
In general it imo doesn't ruin reputation, when one chatted with a woman in decent respectful way. And one accepted her rejection, immediately, and remained kind after that and said friendly goodbye.
