Wouldn't it more-so be a tool for the engineers to utilise rather than it 'taking over' their jobs?

The pay difference between software engineers and all other types of engineers is actually fucking insane, like it's not even close.

Best to take Physics, Maths, CS and Mech Eng together.

Thoughts on mech eng?

ai will create as many jobs as cars created for horses

10 k is not that much, especially when you realise that degrees for mech/ industrial/ petroleum are easier to get than for CS. So CS automatically selects for higher IQ. And IQ is directly correlated with income. I see no future for software after AI.

Lmao, the difference (at least in the UK, dunno where you are) is way way more than 10k

Senior mech engineers (think mid 30s) struggle to break £60k, meanwhile guys in their mid 20s in software earn £100k+ easy.

The pay difference between top CS jobs and engineering jobs is way more than 10k

You're lucky to hit 150k as a mechanical engineer at the peak of your career. There are new grads in CS making 200k at FAANG, don't even get me started on mid-level and senior salaries in CS at these companies:

And CS is WAY easier than engineering, I highly doubt I could have gotten an engineering degree over my CS degree, and I graduated top of my class in CS

No future for software after AI? If you spent a week at a tech job you'd laugh at that statement

Imagine rotting with a UG degree you’re lucky to hit 70 k with it . Phd / MBA or Masters is the only way. 140 iq can make 200 k with water basket weaving. Like I said IQ and GPA matters most for UG but to make the big bucks you need to do a PHD or atleast a masters . Starting a business with MBA is where the big bucks are. I can also post some mech engineers working at FAANG with top tier IQ eating 400 k per year Jfl

So you're going to get a master's in engineering + an MBA and start a business?

I might skip the masters and do an MBA. Start a business and go into law. I don’t see a future where I’m typing away at a keyboard for my master

I thought law also involves researching, reading documents, writing things, and sending and reading emails on a computer a majority of the day

Wouldn’t Mech. Engineering grads still be staring at their screens looking at modeling software and shit?

Yes but the payoff is worth it when it’s game time and you deliver.

It’s just a bridge . I had almost no work I did in 4 years while with Cs I’d be typing away my life like incel
