funny how there's a clear top 5 of all time for tv shows, when it's impossible to say the same for music, movies, athletes, sports teams etc

Breaking bad isn't top 10 and BCS isn't even close to top 5 at all

Mr robot
Mad men
Six feet under
Sopranos
Bojack horseman

Sports is easy because successive generations keep surpassing the previous ones - at least at the moment.
Athletes are all faster and better than before for most sports anyway.

Music seems to be a lot more dependent on current trends and fads than films for some reason.
I don't know why but this always seem to be the case.

Maybe because a good story and characters are universally appreciated, regardless of when the film came out.
Music is a lot more about form than substance and form is highly dependent on the prevailing culture at the time.

I think there is a universal consensus about great films though.
You can look at lots of "best films of all time" and you will consistently see:

Godfather 1/2
Shawshank Redemption
Pulp Fiction
The Dark Knight
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Goodfellas
LOTR

among them for example and many others.
The typical filmbro generic films list I mean there's a differing consensus on what the best films are on letterboxd for example compared to IMDb which is more normie entry level

Are the true top 5

i don't watch cartoons
didnt count comedy shows
mad men are ok, but nothing more
mr robot gets boring and cringe real fast with all the hallucinations/dreams scenes (cheapest trick a director/producer can use as a filler, nothing deep about it)

bcs is not intended for low iq, short attention span retards
bb not being in top 10 is trolling

mr robot is meant to be misleading and elliot is stuck in those hallucinations to cope and escape reality to not confront his deep rooted traumas thats the point of the show, the problem with breaking bad is just how streamlined and predictable it is, its like a jack of all trades and master of none, and BCS is saved by its finale, a lot of S6 just doesnt have much development or progression at all and Kims conclusion is mediocre

best tv-series:
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
- My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic

- honorable mention: Gravity Falls

whatya think about Deadwood?

this, tbh. and bb is 5th on this list for me.

bcs #1. can't fucking believe i gave up on watching it twice because it seemed boring at the beginning. easily the best on-screen portrayal of a non-diagnosable mental defect most people are carrying of all time, and i'm not talking about the protagonist's brother

Only just seeing this now but BCS really is the greatest show I've seen

Some of the themes are unbelievably kino
  • The whole concept of the time machine and how each of the major characters has one big regret in their life that had shaped who they are as a person and their actions throughout the series (and they all have different ways of dealing with and internalizing these feelings)
  • The theme of choices setting you on path where there is too much inertia for you to break free. Earlier decisions cascade into subsequent decision and before you know it you are trapped

It’s the exact opposites. Smaller sample of athletes, sports teams, etc.
