They've always looked like that on average. Actually, modern Greeks are DEPIGMENTED so the older Greeks without that crap from Northern/Eastern Europe were even DARKER and more genetically shifted to the Middle East. Mainland Greeks were more like the Dodecanese than they are now.

PS: Why would a group intermediate between Europe and the Middle East and living in a Mediterranean climate look like Poles on average?

1. One of my crushes was Greek (I think Cypriot). She was very attractive.

2. When I was into race, I flammed a Greek and Italian for "attacking white people" by saying "You're white yourselves you hypocrites!" It took me ages to realise that Greeks and Italians do not neatly fit into concepts of "whiteness" and have vastly more phenotypic and genetic diversity than Northern Europeans.

3. Greece is a fascinating land for genetics nerds. IMHO, if you're a layman into genetics like me, Greece is a MUST to learn about.

But Cypriots aren’t even Greeks. It’s like comparing a Brazilian to a Portuguese. Doesn’t make sense. Cypriots are darker, 10cm shorter, and have way less Slavic influence.

So the genetics studies on Cypriots are all over the place so I don't wanna open that can of worms. All I'll say is that in the UK, most "Greeks" are Cypriots but I HAVE met people from Greece ITSELF.

I know most so called Greeks are Cypriots here but it doesn’t change the fact they look distinctly different.

For example, it’s rare to see a Cypriot here above 180cms where as it’s common for Greeks

Anecdotally, I have seen someone of mixed Dodecanese and Cypriot origin (mind you Dodecanese are genetically closer to Cypriots than to Mainlanders) ;who was ~187cm. But he was "light skinned" so he was an outlier.
