Luffy was cooler when he had a mediocre devil fruit that he made powerful through creativity and hard work.

Now he just has an OP fruit that literally makes him Godlike. It's bullshit.

Emphasis is put on haki being stronger than devil fruits which is probably why he will beat blackbeard even though he has two strong fruits. But I agree it made the show worse in terms of fight quality

Oda could've given Luffy a similar buff by just having him awaken the Gomu Gomu no Mi. He could've given Luffy the power to stretch reality like rubber and it would've been almost just as OP but it wouldn't have made Luffy into a literal God.
