I sent someone this study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/41933982/

And they responded (pictures): in comments, but to summarize: Her argument is essentially: “Your study shows men tolerate certain artificial lab pain better, but that doesn’t necessarily mean men tolerate real-world pain better, because different types of pain and repeated exposure can produce different results.”

tell her to keep coping

how is she coping
evidence isnt in favor of her argument so shes coping, she didnt cite one study expects you to believe her blindly meanwhile rejecting your study, you cant get used to pain…

does she really think study designers are dumber than her and possibly missed something that she caught??
ask her to cite a study that supports her arvument

She is surely right men can't grasp period pain - because men can't have periods.

Men have overall higher pain thresholds (plenty of ncbi.gov studies) and generally must endure a life much more filled with violence, threat of violence and all sorts of over and covert bullying from the day they turn 1 years old.

Neither gender has it easy. Everyone suffers just by being born into this world. But overall when you look at 8 billion people, men have to endure a lot more physical pain over the course of a lifetime.

You can be president and it doesn't protect you from being shot at, stabbed and antagonized.

You missed her point, she’s tryna argue that the clinical studies showing men have a higher pain tolerance only apply to lab settings and not the real world because they’re different types of pain.

Pain tolerance is self reported so there’s always going to be subjectivity/conditioning. You’d need to replicate this cross-culturally and possibly different ages to start to clue in whether or not this is biological, social or a mix. So she’s not entirely wrong but is obfuscating a bit :smonk:

Can u just read and respond
Im not gonna read the entire article in an academic journal JFL.

But anyway I wouldn't be surprised.. men have far more emotional resilience than women, it wouldn't surprise me if they have far higher pain tolerance. I mean its just water. Men are bigger, stronger and have less sensitivity in general.

I have a 6'8 Somalia nigger friend. We used to play fight and Id poke the nigger and sometimes he'd be unaware.

It’s not self reported. They actually test people in these studies. As in, they subject them to pain and see who endures it more

Tolerance is a measure of when they report they can no longer tolerate the pain it’s a self reported experience. I could have worded that better

Well yeah but that doesn’t make the results inaccurate especially when the results are consistent upon multiple studies and systemic reveiws

If it was self reported as in asking them if they had a high pain tolerance and they just said yes/no then yeah but it was tested

"Her argument"

jfl you will not reach to a conclusion if you're debating a foid, you're just wasting your time

Well yeah multiple studies and systemic reviews prove it so.

My issue is with what she’s saying that lab pain doesn’t translate to irl pain
