Ordered a gear shipment for general delivery (USPS) and could not be happier with my experience. The tracking showed when it was ready for pickup. All you have to do for that is go to the post office counter and ask for your package (you must show ID). It was very seamless, and took about 5 mins to get in and out of the post office at 4pm on a Monday. In the future, I am going to try using it with an indiamart shipment.
Also if you are worried about getting in trouble, just know the USPS needs a warrant to search a domestic package.
TLDR: General delivery is a good option for picking up parcels surreptitiously. I can vouch that it works, and the clerks DGAF about the package.
