Both are vague abstract nouns that let you stop tracing causality

Everyone understands why “just work on your personality” is a :bluepill: cope since “personality” doesn’t describe anything concrete.
And yet some :blackpill: do the same thing with genetics, especially when they also try to conveniently smuggle in other dogmatic/religious beliefs such as “environment is cope” and/or “nutrition is cope”, despite those being core inputs, while simultaneously mocking :bluepill: for exactly that kind of thinking.

The funny part is that people throw around “muh genetics” all the time, but almost nobody ever bothers to define what they actually mean by it.
Instead, it’s just used as a placeholder, similar to bluepillers who won't shut up about “muh personality”.

So what are genetics?

They’re nothing more than the biological accumulation of ancestral environments, habits, nutrition, stress, disease load, and trade-offs across generations.
  • What did your ancestors eat?
  • Did they live under stress or in abundance?
  • What was their disease burden?
  • What endocrine disruptors were present?
  • How did their early development unfold?
That’s genetics in practice. Which should be obvious, but since most people use “genetics” as a vague placeholder, it’s apparently worth spelling out.
Epigenetics (the mechanism through which the environment shapes genetic expression) isn’t some override button, it’s just the way all of that stacks up over time.

What people actually mean when they say “genetics are everything

"Genetics are everything" / "It's all genetics" / “It’s just genetics bro” is what you say when you want to collapse a long causal story into a single word and move on without actually saying anything.
In other words, coping coupled with laziness

Genetic fatalism is just secular predestination

It's no different from religious people who will argue that “God made me this way”
Which is ironic, because a lot of blackpillers love attacking religion while adopting its most fatalistic function, making them religious too.

I personally think environment

is the biggest factor, no matter ur genes if you live in some 3rd world shithole

and are malnourished there's no way ur actually going to reach ur full genetic potential

that even stems from a intellectual standpoint, throw Einstein in a 3rd country

he wouldn't of made the history he made without being in the environment he was in

You need to have a good genetic base to ascend
And how do you think a genetic base is established in the first place? It doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. It’s the downstream result of ancestral conditions stacking over time.
Calling that end result ‘genetics’ and treating it as a fixed starting point skips the entire causal chain that created it, which is just lazy coping, as I pointed out.
I hate when a thread is so objectively correct and explains everything in such detail that there's nothing to even comment on.

Facts, I don't know how people even take these slobs seriously.
Doesn't epigenetics pale in comparison to the stacking of genetic recombs (deviations from the norm) across many gens

Also isn't their belief in agency what separates these two?
In terms of timescales, yes, random mutation + recombination over many generations matters. I wasn't trying to put forward the idea of epigenetics > genetics, but more so that it’s that people use genetics as a black box to avoid tracing any causal chain at all.
Whether this chain of events is primarily due to mutation, selection, nutrition, development, or environment, collapsing it to ‘it’s just genetics’ is still a dodge on their part.

And that is exactly the irony re agency. Blackpillers also love to claim that agency doesn’t exist. However, they still use genetics the same way religious fatalists use God’s will, as a terminal explanation that shuts down any responsibility and inquiry.
It's the same function dressed up differently.
How much do you think environment plays a role?
Environment is giga important since genes don’t act in isolation, that much is clear. They only ever show up through environment. Same blueprint, different inputs, different results.

100% and this is where most people lose and blame it on "losing the genetic lottery" If you're healthy like that, you’re actually passing on genetic code that would otherwise be frozen out/unexpressed.
Most kids these days are born from depleted, inflamed and stressed parents, which is a recipe for disaster.

Your body is the material your child is built from. If the material is shit, the outcome is likely to be shit too.
But if the material is good, the outcome is going to be much better naturally.

Yeah this is very much real indeed. And it assumes a neurotypical baseline, which is why most people here will never have these things in abundance, because they are neurodivergent. This divide is the biggest difference in that sense.

I'd argue that general vibe/reading the room, etc., are not generic human skills but rather neurotypical social intuitions. For people who are wired that way, these feel effortless since they don't even have to think about doing them, so they get mislabeled as "just work on your personality" or "just be confident bro".

Unironically, for a lot of people here, the issue was never looks alone, and it's not simply isolation either. It's being neurodivergent in a world that is made for neurotypicals.
A neurodivergent guy can be GL and still fail repeatedly because he's trying to play a game where the rules are implicit and unwritten. When people tell neurodivergents to "just vibe" or "read the room", it's like telling a colorblind person to "just see yellow".

That's why a lot of blackpillers end up isolated after trying, since repeated negative feedback trains the brain into withdrawal.
In the end, it just comes down to learned pattern recognition.

I'm still amazed that so many users don't seem to be able to grasp that brute-forcing your way into neurotypical social dynamics will never work, and you will always fall flat on your face. Instead, the best tactic is always finding environments with people in them where different wiring is actually valued (goes for both friendships and dating).

It's no different from religious people who will argue that “God made me this way”
Which is ironic, because a lot of blackpillers love attacking religion while adopting its most fatalistic function, making them religious too.

environment does matter when developing, this is 100% a fact. But in a way the habits that you will do during development such as nasal breathing, tongue posture, proper chewing, good body posture and even diet comes down to things that are out of ur control (because ur an infant or a child) hence ppl coin it as genetics

I mean look at animals, genetics is simply what stock the animal comes from. You can't breed two german shepherds and expect them to produce a chihuahua, they will only produce a german shepherd. Epigenetics and environmental factors will only determine how perfectly the phenotype (outward manifestation of genetics) conforms to the genotype (the blueprint).

The phrase "genetics is everything" is simply an exaggeration. It means that within normal circumstances, genes are the most important factor in determining life outcomes. While environment matters, genetics sets the essential potential for nearly every trait.

Genetics decide your traits (height, IQ, face, frame, strength, personality, etc.) , which fix your place in a natural hierarchy. This determines how fully you can satisfy your innate urges. Since your genes, your environment, and the very mind that makes "choices" are all results of circumstances you never controlled, your life is ultimately predetermined.

But hey, I'm just a grey..

Any problem someone might have, automatically the herd mentality blackpill npc will jump to LE GENETICS, they think since everyone has said it's all about muh genetics since the dawn of blackpill and shunned every other answer and excluded the person who says it, it MUST be the ONE AND ONLY answer as nonsensical as the relation to the problem and "genetics" might be. It's a mix of that and also depression and laziness from being a grain eating retard.

Slop thread, Twin studies, adoption studies, and GWAS hits for height/IQ/attractiveness all converge on the same numbers: 60-80%+ heritability in modern environments where nutrition is already “good enough.”

Appreciate it man :FeelsBongoMan:

You'd be amazed at how many people here think it doesn't matter.

Facts, I don't know how people even take these slobs seriously.

Environment is giga important since genes don’t act in isolation, that much is clear. They only ever show up through environment. Same blueprint, different inputs, different results.

No offense bro, but how are you still using light theme in 2026? Just burn your retinas theory :lul:
Doesn't matter if you can improve your genes for your bloodlines by eating good or whatever
What matters right now is the genetics you're working with at the moment, your own situation is the most important one
Your ceiling to ascend will be always be way lower as compared to someone who was naturally gifted in terms of genetics and that's the part
Perfect example is bodybuilding , a lot of the aesthetic bodybuilders already had good genetics in terms of their physique Even before they started lifting like great shoulder to waist ratio,
People who're genetically cooked will never reach there no matter how much they "improveee"

The main thing which matters is the quality of the relationship , the avg relationship quality and dynamics of an attractive dude is far better than the avg relationship of a chopped dude

Modern day oofy doofy relationships are pure humiliation ritual , it's rigged in the favour of the woman cause the man has zero options , meanwhile the woman can replace him any time that's why he has to jester
