Thread Body (looksmaxxer tone):
Alright boys, I’m making this thread because I feel like a lot of people in the looksmax community seriously misunderstand what genetics actually controls. I’m 15 (almost 16), and I’ve been grinding looksmaxxing hard for a while. But after trying tons of methods and researching the science behind facial growth, I’ve realized this:
Genetics has the biggest influence on your looks, and you can only optimize what’s already genetically set.
Let me break it down.
Why Genetics Controls Most of Your Facial Structure (Scientific Explanation)
Your appearance — maxilla projection, mandible growth, cheekbones, chin, brow ridge, nose shape, cartilage thickness, and even how your midface develops — is heavily programmed by your DNA.
When puberty hits, your body activates genes that control:
- Bone growth direction
- Height of the nasal bridge
- Cartilage shape
- Facial proportions
- Jaw growth patterns
- Skin thickness and fat distribution
By the end of puberty, your core facial structure is basically set. From that point on, you can improve soft tissue and posture, but you’re not going to completely change bone shape with exercises or pressure.
My Case: The Nose Hump
I’m insecure about my dorsal hump. TikTok and looksmax threads always jump straight to
“bro recessed maxilla”
for every nose issue. But that’s not always the case.
My maxilla isn’t recessed. Could it be a bit more projected? Maybe. But that’s not why I have a hump.
My nose hump is genetic. My dad and uncle have the same exact one.
A lot of people confuse:
- a genetic dorsal hump
with - a droopy tip caused by weak tip support
Looksmaxxing circles blame everything on midface deficiency, but not every hooked nose equals a recessed maxilla. My case is literally hereditary.
What I’ve Tried
I’ve tried pretty much everything:
- Mewing
- Thumb pulling
- Chin tucks
- Chewing for hours
- Lymphatic drainage
- Nose “slimming” exercises
- Tip lifting exercises
- Mouth taping
- Sleeping on my back with good posture
- Bonesmashing (cheekbones, jawline, and especially the radix area)
- nost taping at night to apply constant pressure to hump
Yes, I even tape my nose at night hoping the pressure on the hump might reshape it a little.
But here’s the scientific reality:
- Pressure does not reshape nasal bone.
- Pressure does not remodel cartilage in teens.
- The dorsal hump is a combination of bone + thick cartilage, and neither responds to pressure.
- Taping can only change swelling, not structure.
- Bonesmashing cannot grow or reshape bone — it only risks damage.
- Chewing doesn’t remodel the jaw bone; it just trains the masseter.
- Drainage only removes puffiness.
You can temporarily change how swollen your nose looks.
You cannot change the shape of your nasal bones or cartilage this way.
Maybe pressure remodleling does work but taht takes years and no one has years to wait as your bones stop growing at a certain age.
So What Actually Can Be Changed?
Looksmaxxing is worth it when you focus on things that actually respond:
- Skin quality
- Body fat percentage
- Hair and grooming
- Muscle and posture
- Style
- Sleep, hormones, and health
- Confidence and social presence
But if you’re expecting:
- your nose hump to disappear
- your maxilla to magically grow forward
- your cheekbones to rise
- your radix to get higher from pressure
- your cartilage to reshape
I also had a crooked nose and that cannot be fixed by maxilla growth or ascension it takes surgery to fix this and im trying to stay all natural .And also im to young for surgery .This is all my thought on this looksmax journey and i havent quitted or anything i might be 100% wrong .So please reply or give me some tips or advice on what you guys think.
it’s not going to happen.
