It's not his number of descendants, as it is claimed in science articles and documentaries like this. The claim "1 in every 200 men alive today is descended from him" means something entirely different. It is a claim about patrilineal relatives (not necessarily descendants) who carry a particular Y-chromosome haplotype. Someone who is Genghis' paternal grandfather's brother's son's son's ... (x 27) son would probably count. Someone who is Genghis' daughter's son's son's ... (x 27) son would not count. This is all about carrying the Y-chromosome, which is different than descent.
