Been a lurker here for some time and was always unhappy with how fat my face looked despite being super skinny (6’2, 145lbs). Decided to take the plunge and do these 3 surgeries all in one go (added rhino because my nose had a dorsal hump but this wasn’t my priority).

Literally had my surgery this morning and fuck the recovery has been killer. The genio hurts like a bitch saw some people on here saying it’s pretty tame but the numbness of my lower lip is killing me can eat or even drink anything without looking like a spastic and spilling it everywhere. I can barely even talk without sounding like a full blown retard and it hurts like hell to move my jaw. If anyone has had genioplasty before how long until the numbness subsides? Right now can feel my top lip and the sides of my bottom lip but the middle part of my bottom lip has no sensation at all. Idk how I will go back to work or function socially like this.

Also the rhinoplasty hurts quite a bit too but not as bad as the Genio. My surgeon used ultrasonic technique but he mentioned I had a really strong bone for my dorsal hump so I’m guessing that’s why it hurting so bad but idk.

Ngl before this surgery I was so motivated to change my appearance but after how fucked this recovery is I’m lowkey regretting it lol. I don’t even care an out the results right now (looks not bad from what I can see so far) but I just want the pain gone. Anyway if anyone has had this surgery please tell me ur experience in the comments. Or if you have any questions feel free to ask. Dm if you want before and afters

Nerve regeneration isn't a linear process. You're looking at up to a year to stage a full recovery. I still had some numbness at the 3 month mark. Coupled with your immune system in overdrive + reaction from general anaesthetic, you'll feel like shit for the first week.

Recovering in pain from a surgery you spent all your savings on, that will give you permanent nerve damage and ascend by 0.01 points while a chad is having an orgy with a couple of htbs. Brutal

A lot of truth in this and I say this as a bimax patient - although I actually needed mine to correct a moderate to severe underbite. Would not have done it for looks alone. Not worth it.

Edit: I should have prefaced before, I had bimax - no genio.

Agree I did this purely for looks and right now feels like it’s definitely not worth it. If I knew recovery was this shit I wouldn’t have done this. Just kept hearing stories of people saying Genio + Rhino recovery is not that bad

Bimax with no genio? How was the recovery?

Bimax with no genio?
Didn't need it in my case. Didn't want to just slice and dice things for the sake of it.

Not that bad. The first week is pretty gruelling but recovery quickly picks up after that. Numbness wasn't an issue in the upper lip, but part of lower lip remained numb for 6+ months.

Despite the cavalier attitude towards bimax on here, it's not a surgery to be taken lightly. Reward of elective surgeries should far outweigh risk - if it's all for a marginal improvement, then forget it.

How numb was ur lower lip for the 6 months? Was it zero sensation at all? Or just not full sensation? I can’t imagine it being fully numb makes it impossible to eat in public without spilling shit everywhere and would make everyday tasks like drinking water extremely difficult?

No, I still had some sensation, maybe 40% of my pre-op baseline. The sensation in my upper lip was basically intact.

No, you just need to be a bit more self-aware when drinking and eating. It's not like motor functions were affected.

Despite my criticism of invasive surgeries, don't be too tough on yourself. It's done, and you'll feel much better in a couple of weeks. The rhino sounds worthwhile, and you'll get some measure of improvement out of the genio.

Sorry for bombardment of questions but at what point post surgery did it go from 0% sensation to starting to get some sensation back? I’m literally under 24 hours right now but am a bit pqnicked

Also what pain killers did they give u for your bimax? Wondering if they prescribed any heavy duty shit like opioids. I’ve only been given paracetamol and another mild painkiller and the pain is getting to me can’t even sleep

Don't worry about it. Numbness is basically guaranteed within the first 24 hours. Don't panic.

I can't remember exactly what the trajectory of my recovery was but I think I got most of my sensation back within the first couple of weeks. Don't treat this is as a golden rule or standard - it will vary from person to person.

I largely stuck to mild painkillers. Was given a morphine drip but never used it because it comes with a myriad of unwanted side effects, such as nausea and vomiting. Would mean being hospitalized for longer.

Barely got any sleep in hospital either. Didn't get a proper night's sleep for 4 or 5 days I think, even after getting home, although it improved.
