Let's talk exclusively about cranial bones. We all know that the growth and ossification process of the facial bones is different from that of the rest of the body and occurs in a process called intramembranous ossification. Basically, I want to touch on a point regarding bone remodeling after the fusion of the sutures present in the bones of the skull. From what I understand (I could be wrong), all facial exercises are a lie and won't implement any kind of change that could help within safe limits, since, outside of these, they stop being safe. I want to make it clear that I'm not referring to posture correction exercises like chin tucks, mewing, etc. My point is that suture fusion completely indicates the cessation of bone growth and bone fixation, but it doesn't completely prevent bone remodeling. There are exercises, perhaps yet to be discovered, that, with the right measurements, directions, angles, and the necessary force, can, with continuous use over long periods of time, serve to reverse negative growth and promote forward growth.

So, when cranial sutures (not growth plates) fuse:

  • Growth in skull size stops (no more expansion).
  • But: Bone mass and remodeling can still occur!
This means: Even after sutures close, the bones can still remodel, thicken slightly, or change density due to mechanical stress, hormones, or aging. But no significant growth or movement happens after fusion.

So, even after the understanding that the development we go trough from the moment we were conceived to the the fuse of our cranial sutures defines our skull after we’re done growing, the idea that it might be too late to a lot of people and that most are doomed can perhaps be wrong. I think the remodeling through the right exercises and consistency can be a possibility to change a lot of people that have a good amount of bone mass and that ones whose facial attractiveness is poor due to recession/downward growth problems without any type of deformity and those whose problems are only derived from the causes I mentioned early have salvation.
