A little background on me to start:
I have undergone orthodontic treatment and a mild correctional BSSO already. I started the braces treatment at 15 and got them removed at 17. The BSSO I got at 16.5. However, after the BSSO, my orthodontist realized I have a very mild posterior crossbite, caused by having an overlooked posterior transverse maxillary deficiency. Due to it being "mild" in his eyes, he refuses to refer me back to the OMFS to get a segmented LeFort.
So, I have decided to abandon him and pursue other means of expansion. I have a consultation for an FME booked for later this year, and I am hoping that afterwards, this more airway-focused orthodontist can refer me to my last OMFS for a Lefort, BSSO revision and a genioplasty. Because I live in Canada, I'm aiming for the major surgeries to be covered under the public healthcare system, as my BSSO was covered and free. A legitimate reason is needed, and I'm hoping my minor maxillary retrognathia will be reason enough for at least the Le Fort. If I can get partial coverage and just have the BSSO and Genio (the two less invasive, less expensive surgeries come out of pocket), that would be okay.
In terms of a "base", I have been privately rated in DMs with ranges from MMTN to LHTN. All my photos were at least mildly frauded with lighting, although angles were proper, so take that as you will.
Now, as far as means of payment for the FME, I'm hoping my father will pay for it. It is around $20k CAD for the treatment with Maximum Dental in Ottawa. Seeing as he is a medical specialist, he has the means and should understand that it's not just for looks but for health and functionality as well.
I'll update after my consultation, but again, it's only later this year.
