heres google earth:

its vertically smaller. i think they traced the outlines from a picture of a globe taken from an angle which compresses canada.

not sure if that island is actually part of the map, or just a spot

Africa is near North America, even though these are separate continents. The Americas and Africa are separated by the Atlantic Ocean. Africa should be near Europe and Asia, while South America should be near Central America.
