While walking together she kept on pulling my body away from obstacles like the poles and shit so many times. I insisted that I can avoid that on my own but she kept doing it.

Hehe, kinda like it :lul:

Splitting the Pole is a Superstitious Phenomenon; Where when walking with a friend or partner, some people believe that if a pole, sign, or other object comes between them, it can bring bad luck or a rift in their relationship. To counter this supposed bad luck, the phrase "bread and butter" is often said when one person has to go around the obstacle, or when the obstacle is unavoidable. Neither myself or anyone I’ve asked has ever heard of “splitting the pole”, so its origins remain unclear. It seems to be just one of those superstitions that a select number of people have heard and adopted. There is something to be said about the metaphysical gravity some allot to customs and beliefs despite having no rationale or origin to validate the belief. There is no utilitarian value in refusing to split the pole. Just like walking under a ladder or breaking a mirror, it is a superstition that some adopt despite not aligning themselves with the culture or community it comes from. Despite not being part of the culture or community it comes from, people still act in accordance with the belief out of the potential threat that violating this belief will endanger them. Only time a girl walked by my side was when I forced it by catching up to her. None of them touched me.
