I'd consider myself a solid B1-B2 speaker and have known german for a year and I can speak fluently in day to day conversations but once you move beyond everyday grammar and vocabulary, the language suddenly demands a lot more precision.

You start running into things like Konjunktiv II in indirect speech, Nebensätze with multiple nested clauses, passive constructions with modal verbs, Genitivpräpositionen
Aspekt-Nuancen in verbs. Like damn bro. This shit is hard.

I can speak fluently in regular conversations but the moment it gets abstract, technical, or very formal. I am clueless.

The german you guys speak isn't even german. It is some weird hillbilly dialect of german from hochdeutsch. 90% of Österreichisches goes over my head
