AT FIRST​

“At first” means “At the beginning” or “In the beginning” and is used to talk about the time things happened

"At first" is to be used when speaking about events in the past, not present.
“At first” also conveys a change of state over time. For example, "At first, I wanted a pizza, but then decided to have a steak."
