Getting bored of this nerd shit

Been working as a developer for a year at the current company and about a couple of years before that. My background is not in the field, but I kinda liked programming since of good old SA-MP days when you could script a server to your liking.

Until spring last year I was really into programming, reading stuff related almost everyday, writing notes on my phone, diving deep into the programming language I work with to understand it as best as I could.

However since last spring, my interest in this has died. I don’t know if breaking up with my gf had anything to do with it (most likely yes) but I completely stopped reading stuff or coding in my spare time. I just don’t feel like it. I’m also starting to get pissed off by the daily things I have to do at work, fix bugs or whatever it’s just so fucking annoying.

Is it possible to get back the old interest I had in programming? @Jason Voorhees

I was the same as you. Started coding at 15 purely out of my own interest. This kind of burn out is exactly why I do open source contributions and help kids in their projects on forums in my free time and learn new shit. I feel you tbh.

The spark you had from SA MP days tinkering, building worlds, seeing immediate results kust needs the right conditions to come back.

Just pick one tiny, low pressure project like scripting a simple Al-powered bot or modding a game with modern tools. Mix in some fresh tech like RAG pipeline Rust, whatever is interesting to break the monotony, and deadlines, no perfection. And you'll start enjoying again. Maybe replace your laptop with something new to build up that urge to be productive. Also take things slow start fixing the external stuff go to gym, attend events, go play some start. start doing shit you love other than coding.
