I'm not even saying it metaphorically, back in the days of slavery in Europe they would cut the literal slaves hair short to signify that they are slaves LOL. Even before the times of slavery they would cut your hair off as a punishment if you raped or stole, now imagine doing that to yourself every few months, and PAYING someone to do it for you, just like its your slave master
