Any tips on what I should tell them before hand?

Maybe something like; capture my whole fucking skull, please. NOT just my mouth

Before asking what tips you can tell them, you should learn what a CBCT scan is.

I'll summarise for you G.

CBCT scan (Cone Beam Computed Tomography scan) is an X-ray that will produce a 3D image of your teeth, jaw and the surrounding structure. It's not a flat 2D picture unlike a traditional dental X-ray, which you already know, since you're most likely getting this scan to evaluate whether implants, orthodontics, endodontics (root canals), TMJ issues, oral surgery or just airway analysis in general would be beneficial for you.

It's a precise 3D image. It will help avoid complications during treatments or surgeries, can also reveal hidden problems which a typical X-ray would not see.

You could ask for "I need a full maxillofacial CBCT that includes my entire jaw, teeth, and surrounding facial bones" if they ask why you need an actual reason. If it's for surgery, implants, or a thorough evaluation just say it's for a complete evaluation of your facial structure. Be polite, but be clear.

Thanks bro. Idk if this is GPT or not but thanks anyways, i did ask them for CBCT so I hope they understood what I meant

do you think it is superior to a ceph scan? Im having an easier time looking at a ceph scan bc thats what most people use on jawsurgery forum

I just type like an autist, always have and always will.

The question to you is why are you getting the scan? Are you looking to get implants? Treatment? Surgeries? Braces? The reason you're getting the scan is the most important factor of this entire equation.

A Cephalometric X-ray (ceph scan) is a 2D X-ray from the side and is mainly used in orthodontics for the planning of jaw surgery. It will show you jaw alignment, tooth relationships and the proportions and angles of the skull. It's standardized which means that most jaw forums can easily read it too. It's also lower radiation than a CBCT. It just won't show you the depth or complex bone structure compared to a CBCT, any overlapping structures may also obscure certain details.

my main goal is for the planning of a TRIMAX, first of all I want to see my occlusal plane in relation to the FP, then I wanna see how tilted my incisors are etc. Just overall planning for downgrowth/ more forward movement,

I was thinking of getting a posterior CCW downgraft, and not so much linear advancement to avoid the so called 'chimp lip', maybe like 4mm lefort 1 with a few degrees CCWr, would give me like 2.5mm of actual linear movement,

then the jaw like 8mm + 6mm genio

CBCT is superior in this case. Ceph would still be useful for communicating angles in forums or for quick 2D measurements though.
