Getting my first of at least two booked (will probably make it 4-6) IPL sessions tomorrow. Gonna update under this post how it goes.

My goal is to fix redness/hyperpigmentation. Already on tret (haven’t used for 3 days to prepare for this) and have cleared up 99% of my acne besides the occasional chin pimple which I can’t really prevent but it goes away in a day so idgaf.

If this clears my scarring I can finally claim HTN and this is just the start of my journey. :feelsgood:

Just got round 1 done. Got a facial + extraction too. Stung a little but overall wasn’t bad at all. Also the esthetician was really hot so that was a plus. She was nice and said if it doesn’t start to fade in 6 weeks we can change to micro needling at the same price which is very nice.

Will post updates throughout the weeks on my progress

Do you want to nuke ur facial hair?
Shiiit maybe, would prevent ingrown hairs and shit and you wouldnt have to shave which could be nice if youre going for a pretty boy look.
Though I mayself will probably beardmax somewhere in the future to cover up some acne scarring

Also rep my shit nigger I repped yours

Its commonly used for it, but can be used for treating other things without affecting hair follicles. I was contemplating having a few sessions mixed in with my regular esthetician appointments.

Strength of the laser matters. There are other lasers besides ipl
other hair removal like electrolysis exist too

You can change the strength on an IPL but it doesn’t do anything.

What I’m asking is all laser hair removal just using an IPL?

Depends on your fitzpatrick and hair thickness.
You should consult a laser hair removal specialist

I have extremely dense hair

Tanned / light brown

How did your IPL sessions go?
Had two, minimal progress but definitely some. Debating on getting another pack of two down the line but I just started tazarotene and also oral tranexamic acid. I’m making progress slowly but this is years of scarring I’m trying to fix so it won’t be done overnight. The first ipl session def did more than the second but I think it’s bc I had a different person do it that time (first one wasn’t available that day and I’m retarded and didn’t wait). If I do it again it’ll be with the first person

Thick hair is easier to target though if you meant dense as in many follicles thats worse ofc.
The darker your skin the more your melanine will absorb the laser. Its also increasing your chance of hyperpigmentation or light spots.

Denser hair follicles like more hair follicles

Also Wdym more melanin absorption? Isn’t the whole point behind it to nuke your facial hair growth and subsequently shadows leaving clear skin underneath?

The darker your skin the more the skin melanin interferes with the effectiveness of the laser due to taking away energy that is supposed to be directed at the melanin of the hair.

It also increases risk of skin damage

Nd lasers are best suited for darker skin types

I’m not dark I’m like light brown

After skin lightening I’ll be borderline white tbb
