Many men in west would see it embarrassing, wife taking the reigns over the relationship or whatever. I myself couldn't care less though who proposes, marriage lost it's meaning when women started having sex before it. But that said, I am kind of jealous to China and Russia. Much of the cultural problems in the west are due to us having no authority figures anymore.
