About 6 months ago, my GF (we are both in our mid-late 20s) got into the Kpop group BTS through her friends. But it quickly evolved from being a new favorite musical artist to a full blown obsession. Her twitter has become what she calls a "stan account" where she tweets about them all day long. She also "thirst tweets" all the time which is really problematic to me, because anyone in a serious relationship shouldn't be "thirst tweeting" about other guys, whether they're celebrities or not. And she justifies this by saying her friends in happy relationships say much worse things than she does. She has photos of them all over her room. It's just weird to me because this is all stuff that you would see a 16 year old girl doing. And then she makes me feel like I'm the asshole because I'm not letting her love something that makes her happy. Like I totally understand having a favorite musical artist, but she (and her friends) follow like every facet of these dudes lives outside of their music. It just seems very cringey and hero worship-y to me. She makes reaction videos on youtube which are basically just video versions of her tweets. I don't know. I just want to know if I'm wrong, because she says that I don't support her in something that brings her joy. I don't really vibe with their music, and im not really the type to follow the personal lives of celebrities. I just come off to her as unsupportive I think, because I think that it has become a very unhealthy obsession.

I would never date a girl obsessed with anything NPC mainstream shit. You aren‘t wrong here (considering this ain’t a LARP), I get what you mean but every time I see a decent foid but then I see they are just NPCs liking BTS and Stranger things it is a huge turn off.

At the risk of getting downvoted, I'm a 29 year-old ARMY who spends hundreds of dollars on BTS yearly. I have a bias, I buy all the albums, I watch all the online concerts (I've been to one irl concert and have plans for their next whenever that may be), and have shelves full of merchandise. The bedroom is also decorated with posters. And I've been in a loving, secure relationship for 3 years with a man that understands me being a fan (or, I guess, "stan"). He doesn't care about the posters either. He's also secure enough with himself and our relationship to know I'd pick him over my BTS bias.

I know plenty of ARMY like me who are in long-term relationships, married with kids, married with kids with grandkids, etc. We have spouses, jobs, *lives*, and yes, a part of our lives is BTS. And the people in our lives are cool with that. Most don't get it, and that's fine. But if they try and put us down for enjoying something that doesn't hurt or harm us? Something that brings us actual joy? Well, we'll drop what doesn't give us joy. Simple as that.

Any person in your life that puts you down for taking part in something that doesn't hurt anyone&brings you joy doesn't deserve to be in your life.

If "following every facet of" their lives means literally stalking, keeping up with sasaeng accounts, then by all means that is too far and absolutely wrong. But if that means reading articles, watching clips from shows, watching appearances on other programs, that's normal.

If she talks about nothing but BTS, morning, noon, and night, that's not normal. If she mentions something once or twice a day, normal. Honestly, I don't even talk about BTS with my boyfriend unless he asks (and surprisingly he *does* ask, because he takes an interest in my life)

All this to say, I get not wanting to be with someone who is a superfan of a group. I get not being able to handle that, and if your girlfriend has gone beyond stan to sasaeng level then that's definitely not normal and you should not support that. You should also be with someone you feel secure with. Just don't put someone down for being a superfan of something.

BTS's story is particularly inspiring, and I know it inspired me to better myself and my life. Many ARMY have the same story.

(And most of the posts here are making me happy I somehow found someone who loves me and supports me and all that comes with me. He hasn't listened to a single BTS song but surprised me with BTS Uno for my birthday and preordered me the box set of Rolling Stone magazines lol)

My girlfriend likes BTS and it's throwing me off

So my girlfriend (18F) claims to be a "Proud BTS Fangirl" and does all the things to prove it. She listens to only BTS songs on Spotify, follows all BTS fanpages, and even has a picture of someone from BTS in her profile picture & her wallpaper.

I, honestly, don't have a problem with BTS or with any 'fangirl' out there. But I just don't like it - her obsession with BTS. I never said a word to her about BTS or that I don't like how she's crazy for those 7 boys, because it's her choice to do whatever she wants and like whoever the likes.

But you can't deny the fact I don't like it. I KNOW MANY OF YOU WILL SAY THE PROBLEM LIES WITH ME. But I just don't like it, that's it. I hope you understand.

I never look at any other female celebrity and call myself her "Fanboy". I just don't like it.

Still, I continue to be with her, watching her BTS profile picture and receiving purple hearts with "Bye💜" She even says "You are one of the 8 boys I love"

I have never, and will never say a word to her about this, it's totally okay to have celebrity crushes. But I don't like it.

I broke up with my gf of two years because of BTS

Well I do have a lot more reasons but I would say BTS plays a huge huge part in this.
She talks about BTS so fucking much I just could not fucking take it and I couldn't even fake it anymore.
Every time we talked either alone or with other people she would bring fucking BTS into our talk even if I was sharing my emotions she would fucking be like "JImIn wrOTe SOmThiNg abOUt ThaT oN TwiTtEr" SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY.
Every time I tried to ask her to talk about something other than fucking BTS she would get quiet and mad, WELL SORRY every fucking time I went to see her and wanted to talk or do something fun she would just get her laptop out and we would sit without talking and watch BTS stuff.
It was her entire fucking personality, BTS and being in a gay relationship which she does not have anymore so I guess it's just BTS now.
And I never told her a fucking thing when breaking up with her so to not hurt her but I wish I fucking did.
And I don't want to fucking hear about BTS or jimin or suga or whatever the fuck the names are ever again

AITA for breaking up with my girlfriend for being dangerously obsessed with BTS?

Edit: For those who don't know, BTS is a popular kpop band. It stands for Bangtan Sonyeondan, which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts in English, but they're also called Beyond the Scenes

Edit 2: Changed the position of the above edit from the bottom of the post to the top

I (16M) was dating a girl (16F) for a long while (about a year and a half) when she started to get into BTS, and it took over her life. She only talked about BTS anymore, she only posted and followed people on twitter that also liked BTS, it was all she would listen to, she spent all of her money on their merch, and stopped talking to all of her friends that weren't into BTS aside from me. At first I supported her new interest, but after a while it got overbearing to the point that I couldn't handle it anymore.

She would try to force me to get into BTS all the time, claiming that "anyone who comes in contact with these boys falls in love". Whenever she would, I would try to tell her about the toxicity of the k-pop industry and fandom, but she wouldn't listen, claiming that the artists were just dedicated and some fans just loved them a little bit too much. (For context, one of the artists broke a leg and still went on to concert, and she claimed it was dedication and he wasn't forced to do it. She also claimed that the fans that tracked the band to an airport and threw themselves on them was "a bit much, but it wasn't that bad")

After I while I just got fed up with it, and broke up with her. She wasn't the person I fell in love with, she had completely changed. Rather than the deep discussions about life and the universe and politics, she just wanted to talk about whatever Yoongi or Jaehyun did that day.

She thinks I'm the one in the wrong because I'm not supporting her, but that's not it at all, I don't think. I broke up with her not because she has an interest I don't have, but because she's a wholly different person and was the kind of person that would be incredibly angry if one of the members so much as took a concert off because he was sick, and I didn't need that in my life. Am I the asshole?.

THAT IS WHY INDIAN HAS LOWEST IQ IN ASIA :lul::lul::lul::lul::lul:

No Malaysia has even lower.

Malays are incredibly stupid. Most of them end up going to ITE(technical, vocational school).

In Singapore Tamils like me outperform Chinese on average.

My Mensa IQ is 124. What's yours?

If India has the lowest IQ in Asia then why are there so many STEM universities, colleges and students in India? Why are Indians overrepresented in NASA? Why are Indians in demand for Engineering and Computer Science all over the world?

To truly evaluate the average IQ of a people

1) you need to collate all states in that country
2) all economic classes
3) all social heirarchies

'm the same, but my case is that I look Asian so they associate me with those of bts, I'm already fed up
