I've tried most of what I can reasonably try already. Currently in my 20s with over half of my immediate family dead, and have health issues along with being incel. Very bleak life, so I just try to have fun when I can and make the most of it. Not everyone gets a happy ending unfortunately. Just curious, how old are you yourself? Lots of times the ones who act very optimistic tend to be very young and haven't been put through the ringer yet

Thanks. Sure hasn't been easy for me lately. 17 is still pretty young, and I remember being that age and having both parents alive. Been years since I had that kind of security in life of having them both. Even though I still was incel and had health issues at that age, I had more family and was a lot less jaded than I am now.

As your family dwindles, you gotta take on more responsibilities yourself that you'd normally work together on, and for certain projects you're just on your own for if the parent who died was the one who was clever with hands on work. Fairly soon I'm gonna try to fix one of our vehicles that has an issue that's a bitch of a job to repair. Those are the times it sure felt nice to have someone else to do things with if things go south. I've already had the engine apart on our riding mower and repaired it among many other difficult repairs, so this should be something that's easy in comparison as long as nothing weird happens.

Honestly, I can’t relate to losing a parent, but my parents did just get recently divorced, which is still way better than losing them, and you’re right. I honestly don’t know what I would do. That also makes it even more important, in my personal belief, to think things will get better. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or a year from now, but things will get better. If I didn’t think that way, I honestly don’t believe I would be at the point I am now.

Honestly, I can’t relate to losing a parent, but my parents did just get recently divorced, which is still way better than losing them, and you’re right. I honestly don’t know what I would do. That also makes it even more important, in my personal belief, to think things will get better. Maybe not today, or tomorrow, or a year from now, but things will get better. Divorce still sucks a lot. Ironically my parent's should have been divorced as they are toxic to each other. Hope you don't lose a parent in your teens like I did or even your 20s for that matter since that's still too early to lose immediate family. Lost 3 out of my 4 grandparents too, but those were a long time ago compared to when I lost the parent tho

I do what I can to improve what's in my control, such as fixing vehicles and the like. I'll feel good at least about that if I can get it running right again. Last time that vehicle ran, it barely made it back home and was popping out the exhaust and had next to no power either. Diagnosed it as a fuel delivery issue thanks to scanning it's computer for codes and got a fuel filter for it which hopefully will fix it (cheapest and most likely cause). If it doesn't then it's gonna be a real bitch since that means either the fuel pump, fuel lines, or injectors are messed up and I don't wanna be dealing with all that. I know the engine itself is perfectly good because the oil is clean and it sounds fine at idle.

This does show me you have things to focus on and have interesting hobbies which is more than what the average forum user has going for them. Things to look forward too and to work on. I do strive to be like that fixing something on your own wether it’s a car or a pc is always a big accomplishment imo.

Yeah fixing stuff is a good thrill. I also do home repairs myself whenever possible within reason and save us money. Couple years ago my push mower primer bulb dry rotted, and it no longer could run, so I got a 5 pack dirt cheap online and fixed it in 10 mins. Good as new, when most would have thrown it away or paid a shop to do it for 5x the price. The mower is only a 2014 so it's got a ton of life left in in. My older riding mowers are a 1994, 1999, and a 2009. They're rough but I still find parts when needed to fix them up and keep around as spares. My newest is a 2025 that's what I use when I need something reliable, but I like using the old ones for nostalgia and just to keep them functional. Got a 1940s tractor that still runs as well which me and the parent who passed repaired and got running after it was broken for 15 years. We did that when I was 17
