I'd need to enter on a discussion about free will vs genetic determinism to explain everything.

But your wants are genetically determined. When you want something, that is not a free thought that you had, it was chemical reactions in your brain. These wants are determined based on your brain/genes and your experiences in life (and how your brain will react to them).

The actions you take are based on how you can achieve these wants. So if you are more prone to want freedom you'll tend to be more right-lib, if you're more prone to want to have traditional values because you have a strong desire for building a family, for example, and your want for freedom isn't as high, you'll be more alt-right. If you have a want for freedom, but also has a very high temporal preference (that is, you rather have the gratification now than wait some time to get a higher gratification later) you'll be more prone to be left-lib since you can take thing for the "evil" people to share with everyone else...

There are studies showing that liberals and conservatives have different spheres of the brain more active.

However that wouldnt explain why some places are liberal and some are conservative. Not everyone has the same dna in these areas, they follow what their peers say and adopt to their political views.
