JFL thatโs definitely cap if u weโre working through covid it would of been tuff and most docs donโt run their own clinicI've found it's actually the opposite. The sweetheart kind, caring white/asian doctors get burned out seeing 10 patients a day because the patients don't listen. Meanwhile the dark triad Egyptian or Bangladeshi IMG doctors see 50 patients without giving a single fuck and billing 5x more money.
It sounds boring to me tho ngl, med sounds boring too but i think id find it more interesting than itBenefits of working in IT > Benefits of working in medicine
you need to be passionate without being sensitiveI've found it's actually the opposite. Im passionate about being a business owner or real estate agent but I feel like those are too riskyyou need to be passionate without being sensitive
Med is boring as fuck and retarded especially if ur not UScelIt sounds boring to me tho ngl, med sounds boring too but i think id find it more interesting than it
Ofc they are thatโs why it makes a shit ton of money donโt u think becoming a doctor is risky too?Im passionate about being a business owner or real estate agent but I feel like those are too risky
I'm talking about inpatient medicine which is often round-and-go allowing you to work multiple jobs if you cut corners. Even in clinic I have seen doctors book 10 patients in a day and others who saw 20 in an afternoon with double-booked overloaded schedules.JFL thatโs definitely cap if u weโre working through covid it would of been tuff and most docs donโt run their own clinic
risk is good take lots of risksIm passionate about being a business owner or real estate agent but I feel like those are too risky
I dont think its as risky, like if you know u can get good grades. But i wanna get proven wrong so i dont have to go to med school and study 8hrs a day jflOfc they are thatโs why it makes a shit ton of money donโt u think becoming a doctor is risky too?
yea but if the risks go wrong, im not tryna be broke and work at mcdonaldโsrisk is good take lots of risks
Lmao it is most med students regret choosing the subject.I dont think its as risky, like if you know u can get good grades. But i wanna get proven wrong so i dont have to go to med school and study 8hrs a day jfl
yea your definitely right, canโt imagine starting to make money only after ive completed med school wasting my 20s studying 8hrs a day thinking of what my life would be like if i started a successful business or something instead. But idk im indecisive .Lmao it is most med students regret choosing the subject.
Time is more valuable than money what will you do when ur in ur 6th year in and suddenly regret choosing medicine?
Time > Money itโs why people love taking financial risks that give lots of money quick

You can easily start a (scalable) business as a medical doctor aswellI'm talking about inpatient medicine which is often round-and-go allowing you to work multiple jobs if you cut corners. agreedYou can easily start a (scalable) business as a medical doctor aswell
You can become a entrepreneur/manager with any educational background, preferably STEMM
agreed
You don't necessarily need to come up with a multimillion dollar business idea to become "rich", at least by the definition of 30M+ net worth being rich. Having a stable mogger income for 30+ years is all you really need assuming the economy doesn't go to shit. You can easily start a (scalable) business as a medical doctor aswell

motivation to go to med school, but 20k/month to invest, is that even reasonableYou don't necessarily need to come up with a multimillion dollar business idea to become "rich", at least by the definition of 30M+ net worth being rich. For example:
If you invest 20k a month for 30 years straight:

This is assuming ideal 10% returns in the US index fund S&P based on historical performance which is not necessarily predictive of future performance and also does not account at all for inflation (which is currently gigahigh) or market timing.

But consider that 20k/month is how much you could invest if you put in 100% of your after-tax income from a ~400k salary in the US. I have many classmates who are just average/middle of the class who are going into anesthesia, emergency medicine, psych etc who will be able to make 500k+ without working overly hard (at least not much harder than a tradesman, lawyer, engineer, or finance guy would) and have this income for as long as they want to work. In a mogger specialty like interventional cardiology, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics you wouldn't even have to be that frugal. In my case I hope I can live off of just my partner's salary and end up in a great position by the time I'm late 50s with this strategy.
Depends on your goals in life. From what I've seen, tech/engineering guys making 400k+ are more likely to be the frugal type and live modestly off their teacher wife's income to retire rich. Doctors/lawyers are usually more financially retarded or narcissistic and want to flex with the 3M mansion and i8 to keep up with their colleagues.motivation to go to med school, but 20k/month to invest, is that even reasonable
lmk how med school goes. Thanks for making this thread, got a lot of value out of it. I'm pretty similar to you, never really attracted to medicine in particular, although I have hope Ill find some specialty ill like. Just started medicine, if i ever rope coz of the workload ill lyk
Yea that's exactly what I would do if I was a doctor, want to flex in a i8 and big house. Yea, in Canada health care is free, but the income tax is a lot its like 30-40%+ if you make doctor type salary. Also, the only reason why I'm hesitant to go to med school is cuz not sure if it's worth not enjoying my 20s, and having to wait till I'm 30 to start making money.Depends on your goals in life. But hypothetically if you are making 800k as a surgeon working a safe job at a hospital and your wife is a nurse making 60k, or you and your partner are both doctors making 400k+, you will have over 500k after tax to spend which means you can invest 250k and live off of 250k which is a BALLER lifestyle still. The only big life expenses are house, car(s) and education/healthcare the last 2 which are basically free in Europe/Canada and the biggest one, house, will likely also appreciate in value like your investments. *this only applies to US/Canada/Australia though where doctor salaries are all similar, I'm not familiar with how things are in Europe
I kinda regretted it my first 2 years when I was feeling like shit for even leaving my room cuz I knew I had to be studying more or I would fall behind my peers. From 3rd year onwards there's way less studying and now as a 4th year not studying at all just doing rotations I don't regret it at all. It's a mogger feeling walking into the hospital at 6'2 in a white coat as shallow as that sounds it helped my mental a lot to start working. In terms of enjoying your 20s my school literally has a frat with its own house, didn't join cuz i didn't trust myself to not fail out but if you have good time management you can have it all.Yea that's exactly what I would do if I was a doctor, want to flex in a i8 and big house. Hell nah no regrets about the business part because I had 2 failed startups in college with a couple of my fraternity brothers who I'm still in touch with, a doordash type laundry service app and a beverage business, it's hard asf to start a business that makes any decent amount of profit even after putting in tons of hours and spending ages planning and scoping things out. I feel like I would have ended up dead broke at 30 and completely mentally destroyed had I just spent 10 years trying to make it on my ownbeing 6'2, in general, has helped my mental health jfl. But yeah Its more delayed gratification. But don't you ever have those regret thoughts of what if I started a business instead of going to med school and was already rich by now (unrealistic but yeah) cuz I feel like that's what I would think.
Also, did u work part-time jobs while you were in med school and is it even possible to balance out school, gym, and a part-time job while in med school?
Lifefuel tbh. Thanks!Hell nah no regrets about the business part because I had 2 failed startups in college with a couple of my fraternity brothers who I'm still in touch with, a doordash type laundry service app and a beverage business, it's hard asf to start a business that makes any decent amount of profit even after putting in tons of hours and spending ages planning and scoping things out. You can definitely maintain hobbies, this is my old roommate who's going into psychiatry, he's like 5'10 220 lbs.
One of my classmates is a former nurse and she works like 6 shifts a month to pay for tuition so I think it can be done if you really want
