in the last 3 months I got off accutane and haven't even touched moisturizer since. Naturally because of this my face produced more oil and what not to combat the dryness of the winter coming along. So my face has been breaking out a bit. I got Valeant 0.06% retin-a micro (tretinoin) gel microsphere and was wondering for any tips or what to expect. Now i did not purge on accutane so I wondered if that will be the same with this possibly? also i know the sandwhich method of putting moisturizer below and above the tret but was wondering for any other insight? much appreciated.

You could experience a mild purge with tretinoin, even if you didn’t on Accutane, so give it time (usually 4–6 weeks). Start slow and use tret 2–3 times a week at first, and stick to the sandwich method to minimize irritation. Make sure you’re moisturizing regularly, as tret can dry you out, and always wear sunscreen during the day. Avoid mixing with harsh actives or scrubs while your skin adjusts.

So I was wondering, I live in a very cold place now and the sun at its peak strength gets to 1 on the uv index, as well im in school all day then come home and am inside all day, so that said do i really need sunscreen now? or stick to moisturizer?

Even if you're indoors or the UV index is low, it's still important to wear sunscreen, especially since you're using tretinoin. UVA rays can penetrate windows and cause skin damage over time, and tret can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. I’d recommend using a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily. Just once in the morning should be fine if you're mostly inside.
