NTs and I are simply… incompatible.
I’ve been cutting NTs out of my life one by one, calmly, politely, like Marie Kondo but for social relationships. If an interaction sparks confusion, exhaustion, or a 45-minute internal post-mortem over something I said “wrong” — thank you for your service, goodbye.
What finally broke me is realizing how much NT social life revolves around unspoken hierarchies. Who’s higher status, who’s lower, who’s allowed to speak, who needs to laugh at whose joke. Half the conversations feel like a nature documentary where everyone instinctively knows the rules except me.
Me: talks about an interesting idea
Them: visibly uncomfortable because it wasn’t a “safe” topic
Apparently you’re supposed to talk around things, not about them. You’re supposed to signal, posture, bond through vague shared complaints, and never — under any circumstances — say exactly what you mean.
I hate NTs. I don’t want to live inside their social maze anymore. I don’t want to decode facial micro-expressions like I’m defusing a bomb. I don’t want friendships that depend on me performing a personality instead of having one.
With other NDs? Conversations feel like:
“Oh, you’re intense? Same.”
“Oh, you skipped small talk? Thank you.”
“Oh, you said the truth out loud? Refreshing.”
It’s peaceful. Quiet. Honest. No hierarchy Olympics. No signaling Just mutual curiosity and respect.
So yeah I'm opting out.
The only NTs left in my life is my family and one childhood friend.
Different operating systems. Same planet. No compatibility, there isn’t any.
Anyone else reached this stage of enlightenment ?
