Giving your kids unrestricted internet access should be considered child neglect.

MY TAKE ON THE LINK BETWEEN TECHNOLOGY USAGE AND DEVELOPMENT IN CHILDREN
Like many children, I was given an iPad before I could even walk. I spent hundreds of hours mindlessly watching content, which turned me into a low-IQ zombie. As I grew older and started using the internet more independently, I saw some extremely disturbing things online at around 10 years old — experiences I might never fully recover from. Thankfully, I was forced into sports, which I believe all children should be encouraged to do. At least I became physically fit. In Taiwan, iPhone usage among very young children has become so concerning that children under the age of two are now prohibited from using any type of electronic gadget, a policy I think is a step in the right direction. Parents should absolutely monitor their children’s screen time and what they’re watching. I recently watched a documentary that truly opened my eyes to how naïve some parents are about the dangers of the internet. I’m not completely against giving kids technology, it is the future, but people need to wake up to how dangerous the internet can be, especially for children.
TL;DR: The internet is useful, but it can be very dangerous for kids. Parents should monitor what their children are doing online.

For the first 13 years of your life, maybe
After that, you are just being a dickhead if you look at your kids search history or enter parental controls. Its survival of the fittest if your kid goes to some random gore site

agreed, but if you raise your kid correctly and show them how to use the internet safely, the chance of them stumbling across a gore website is small.

Good post & Good user

Unmonitored unrestricted access to the internet when you're extremely young & impressionable also leads to development of unhealthy porn addictions, and unhealthy genres of porn, which are detrimental to the way you treat people around you & women.

I agree the internet is a fucked up place, internet usage should be restricted or at least have child locks on

I was raised by really strict parents who restricted my internet access, and because of that I was honestly so fucking dumb. I had no idea what was going on in the world, my grades were shit, and I was ridiculously innocent and ignorant.

The second I got unrestricted internet access, everything changed. My grades skyrocketed, I actually started understanding what was happening around me, and I stopped being so clueless. Yeah, I picked up some bad habits along the way (anime, for example), but overall having unrestricted internet access was a net positive in my life.

Honestly, I believe that if I was given unlimited internet access at 9 years old, I would've been in an ivy league university by 13. Would've been a professor by 18 :lul:

I don't know
I feel like masturbation and self-discovery is normal for healthy teens. however a teen being exposed to hardcore/BDSM porn cannot be good.

I agree

The whole step-sister thing is a pipeline to incest, which then leads to more graphic & extreme porn, I'm surprised it's been normalized

I typically mute the audio on pornos like that, it just feels so disgusting. It was definitely created as a loophole to watch incest porn "legally"
