Hey boyos, missed you guys.. might’ve gotten banned.. small mistake.
Anyway.. while I was banned I started researching more about GLUT4, and I haven’t seen any threads focused on it so I’d like to give you a simple guide about it and how to effectively maximize it.
I’ll try to make it as short as possible so it’s not a long read.
GLUT4 (Glucose Transporter Type 4)
WHAT IS IS GLUT4?
GLUT4 is the insulin regulated glucose transporter, it’s mainly in fat, skeletal and cardiac muscle.
What makes it special is the fact it’s mainly stored within intracellular vesicles.
To put this into simpler words,
GLUT4 is a specialized protein that acts as a form of gatekeeper allowing sugar (glucose) to enter your muscle and fat cells.
HOW DOES IT FUNCTION?
STORAGE:
Most of the time GLUT4 is hidden within these tiny storage vesicles, in another tone the proteins aren't just floating around, they are packed into specialized bubbles called GSVs. These vesicles keep the transporters away from the cell membrane.
This is a type of survival mechanism because if all your GLUT4 were to surface your blood sugar would CRASH drastically.
INSULIN RESPONSE:
When you eat and your blood sugar rises, the pancreas releases insulin.
This hormone binds to receptors on the cell surface, triggering a signal that moves GLUT4 vesicles to the cell membrane.
EXERCISE RESPONSE:
When you lift weights or do cardio your muscles burn through ATP.
As ATP drops a molecule called AMP rises.
This causes a molecule called AMPK to activate, when this molecule activates it sends a direct signal to the storage vesicles to release the GLUT4 to the surface.
And secondary, muscle contractions themselves cause calcium to release within the cells, which also signals GLUT4 to surface.
KEY ROLES OF GLUT4.
MUSCLE BUILDING:
By activating the uptake of glucose into muscle fibers GLUT4 provides the necessary energy for protein synthesis and the replenishment of muscle glycogen after a workout. water…
FAT LOSS:
When it is highly active in muscles it pulls glucose away from the blood and into the muscles for fuel which pretty much prevents it from being stored into fat and instead used for muscle building.
that’s pretty much all you need to know about it, if I go any deeper it’s just unnecessary scientific talk..
Now for the fun part
MAIN PHARMACEUTICALS TO MAXIMIZE GLUT4.
METFORMIN
BERBERINE
ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid)
CARDARINE (GW501516)
very little human research.
METHOTREXATE
THIAZOLIDINEDIONES
eg pioglitazone.
CLENBUTEROL
IRBESARTAN
AICAR
EXOGENOUS INSULIN
INSULIN MIMIC STACK
a blend of Berberine, ALA, and natural cinnamon extract.
ALL OF THESE WORK DIFFERENTLY AT DIFFERENT STRENGTHS EACH CARRYING ITS PROS AND CONS.
DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.
Anyway that’s all I have to say, feel free to ask anything I’ll answer to the best of my knowledge.
