Going to the orthodontist tomorrow (high iq GTFIH)

My lower teeth are kind of crowded not extreme but my dentist said I should seek orthodontic treatment. However from what I know in most cases orthodontists address symptoms rather the root cause of problems to milk you for your money. So what treatment should I ask for and what should I reject.

they will either give you invisalign, braces, tooth extraction, or palate expander. palate expander is the best one, so try to steer them in that direction. I got invisalign and it was bad.

This is for the lower teeth though so the mandibular teeth and as far as I know a palate expander targets the maxilla

is ur palate narrrow? if so get a palate expander

Pretty sure MARPE targets the maxilla again but damon braces are likely I think.

Nah its not, no crowding in my upper teeth just slight in my lower. My tongue also fits onto my upper palate so I dont think thats an issue.

Pretty sure MARPE targets the maxilla again but damon braces are likely I think.

You can still get MARPE if you only have teeth crowding. It would also help if you say that you feel like your palate is narrow. Say something like you feel like your tounge is too big for the roof of your mouth. But do not use too many technical or orthodontic related terms. Just make it sound like you are simply experiencing discomfort and have been for a long time. MARPE is probably what you would want the most but it depend on your specific circumstances.

palate expander IS the way HOWEVER there is NO expander (not a safe one) for lower jaw
you can't just split your lower in half

and even if you do get marpe/mse/fme and whatnot youd have to somehow match it with the lower and bring the bite together
if you don't have functional issues just get braces with NO extractions

otherwise look into surgical solutions

It does not matter if that does not seem to be the issue. If you are looking to solve only to teeth crowding then that is a different story but if you actually want to make structural changes in the sense that you would like to widen you jaw then you will want to get the MARPE.

Its lower teeth tho so im pretty sure its useless in that situation but will do research and try that at the orthodontist
