gonna go to a party for the first time

never got invited to parties until now, i never drank either so idk how itll go.
im only close with like 2 people that are gonna go there and a girl i like is coming too, is alcohol a good way to soothe nerves? idk if ill try to make any moves on her but ill see how the night goes on
it doesnt help that im hella far behind on humor and culture in my country, i know what typa humor they have and im gonna look like a dumbass for not knowing any references they make. (i live in france and have been on english social media since like forever ago)
how can i fit in with the group when the only times talks arent awkward are when theres atleast 1 other person with me, i have like 0 social skills and cant ever think of anything to say during 1 on 1 convos.
they created a gc with everyone and we went in call, they were talking abt regular french shit that i couldnt relate to (music, series or yt), it's the only reason i know im just gonna be there awkwardly tryna fit in...

looks wise im not really concerned, im not the best looking but i would say i reach hmtn MAYBE lhtn sometimes (unless i have a completely wrong perspective abt myself), im 6'1.5 ish and ik im taller than most people going there, hopefully i stand out at least a little.
