Memorization definitely plays a key role when learning something like history. This however doesn't apply for subjects like math, physics, also chemistry.

Physics is memorizing equations as well as maths. Chemistry is the most rote memorization thing you could do.

studying and applying your knowledge (at least in math related domains) really makes your brain more adept at problem solving, just something I've noticed over the years

Memory is the base of all intelligence, high IQ people usually have great memory, great problem solvers too.
Rotting for hours memorizing stuff is like going to the gym to train. You can use memory to slay foids too, a musical instrument, poetry and whatnot will niche you and make you slay.

Facts. All foids start learning for a test 2 weeks in advance jfl, they are indeed memorization merchants.
